Our Vineyards

"...the engine of our winery!"

We use to consider our vineyards as the engine of the winery. Everything we do in the cellar depends on the result of our work in the vineyards

We grow excellent indigenous and international grape varieties, to obtain important wines that are strongly linked to our territory.

We see our vineyards as the winery’s engines: ensuring the whole chain of production they are the ones that allow us to create our exclusive wines from their grapes. We have 45 hectares of vineyards located at the foot of Mount Conero, a step away from the Adriatic Sea.

Divided into two units, Podere del Coppo, is situated in the municipality of Sirolo, and Podere of Svarchi, in the Municipality of Numana.

Our main grapes are Montepulciano, a native of Conero with the classic aroma of wild cherry and marasca, and Sauvignon, which we produce since 1972, giving to our exciting wines an elegant and floral taste with notes of elderflower and tropical fruit.

In the vineyards we have circa 4500 plants per hectare and we use to make proper pruning, to reduce the production of grape and improve the quality. The soil, who is rich in marl and limestone,  the perfect exposure to the South, and the Mediterranean and breezy climate help the winery to produce extraordinary and intense wines. All these factors are perfect for the grapes and assure a great and constant superiority, capable of sincere, authentic and intense qualities, perfect to give a good structure to our wines.

The cellar

Improve the quality and quantity of the products

In the last century the cellar moved its location three times. The first cellar was situated in the family's sixteenth century palace in Osimo. Severely damaged during the Second World War, it was closed and rebuilt in Numana's farm, where it was expanded and equipped with the best winemaking equipment of the times.

Eco-friendly

Caring for the environment

Tradition joins modernity and Hi-Tec. Conte Leopardi’s cellar is covered in solar panels and uses only eco-friendly machineries, supporting the vineyard’s health and growth.

Grape Harvest

The heat of a long process

The grape harvest can always be seen as the toughest test for the winemaker. Indeed, after months of hard work preparing the vineyard, it is time to bring home the outcomes. The process starts with the wintry pruning, followed by the binding, the fertilization, the summer green pruning, the suckering, plant health treatments and finally, the grape harvest.
